ATLANTA, GA — Chances are you know someone who has the flu right now.

According to the CDC, flu cases are now trending at their highest levels since 2009 and it is widespread in almost every state in the nation.

The level of flu last week was higher than the peak of any winter flu season since 2009-2010. So far this season, the CDC estimates, there have been 13,000 flu deaths, including at least 57 children.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, the number of flu outbreaks is down, but more people ended up in the hospital in the last week.

Georgia is reporting very high flu activity. Since October, there have been 25 flu related deaths in our state.
