ATLANTA, GA — Following a lengthy debate, the Georgia House has voted to advance the “Riley Gaines Act” which bars transgender athletes from girls sports in all state funded schools including colleges and universities.

The vote was 102 to 54.

Democrats say the bill targets a vulnerable group.

This measure now goes to the Senate.
