ATLANTA — A Georgia man says Cash App transferred money out of his bank account and won’t give it back.

Napoleon Fielder said he loaned money to a friend who then paid it back through Cash App -- but now it’s unclear where the money actually ended up.

Fielder said he regularly uses the app to send money to his children and friends. But when Cash App opened a Green Dot credit card in his name, he asked the account be closed and his money returned to his Cash App account.

The money was moved: $1,002 moved first to his Cash App balance and then to his bank, but then, with no explanation, Cash App took back the money from his bank account.

“They put the money there, turned right back around and took it out,” Fielder said. “All I’m asking is, where is the thousand dollars if you took it out? It has to be somewhere. You didn’t just throw it in the trash bin.”

Instead, Cash App sent Fielder an email saying his claim case is closed without returning his money.

Last December, Fayetteville resident Rebecca Mack was trying to sell a dollhouse on an online marketplace when more than $650 was stolen from her Cash App account.

In that case, Cash App also closed the case without repaying the money.

“It’s devastating to have that much money taken away at this point in our lives,” Mack said.

In Fielder’s case, he did nothing wrong and made no mistakes, but for some reason, Cash App took his money.

That’s why he’s not giving up.

“It’s like, to me, they want me to just get frustrated and give up and they keep my money, but I ain’t gonna do that,” Fielder said.
