Georgia State University could one day be home to a world class medical research facility.
GSU’s reputation in medical research is already growing.
Now a nine-story research tower is going up on the downtown Atlanta campus.
Chemistry professor Donald Hamelberg said there will be 155,000 square feet of state-of-the-art teaching and research space and equipment.
“The initial focus is going to be on infectious disease,” he said. “They will be working on viral and bacterial pathogens.”
The GSU research center will open in spring 2026.
