ATLANTA — The Georgia Lottery says it was a good New Year’s weekend for many Georgians, including two who became multi-millionaires off scratch tickets, according to WSBTV.
Georgia Lottery officials said someone in the south Georgia community of Barney won the top prize on the 2nd Edition Billionaire Club scratch-off and chose the cash option of $3,757,786.42 on Jan. 2.
Someone in Jefferson won the top prize of $2 million on the Multiplier Madness scratcher that was purchased in Commerce. On New Year’s Eve, someone in Madison ended the year well with a $150,000 jackpot in the Fantasy 5 drawing.
Although no one won the Mega Millions jackpot on New Year’s Eve, Georgia lottery officials said a player in Jasper matched four out of five winning numbers and the Megaball and won $10,000. Two more Georgians took home $10,000 from playing Georgia 5. One ticket was sold in Jonesboro for the New Year’s Eve drawing and another in McDonough for the New Year’s Day drawing.
From Dec. 30 to Jan. 2, Georgia Lottery officials say Georgians won more than $900,000 playing games only available online and on the app.
In October, someone in Georgia won the Powerball jackpot of $478 million.
