COBB COUNTY, GA — With a proposal for the construction of a new pedestrian bridge, getting to The Battery may soon be a walk in the park...literally.
The Cumberland Improvement District is proposing a pedestrian bridge to cross over Cobb Parkway to make getting to The Battery safer for those walking. The Marietta Daily Journal reports the CID is asking Cobb lawmakers to allocate some of the money from Governor Kemp’s supplemental budget.
The proposal is estimated to cost a little more than $12 million dollars. The bridge would be a key part of what’s called the Cumberland Sweep, the CID’s plan for a three-mile multimodal path to connect the area around The Battery.
The plan is being spearheaded by the CID in partnership with the city of Smyrna and Cobb County.
