Governor Kemp talks of funding for school security

Gov. Kemp to ask legislature for another $50 million in one-time security grants for GA schools Gov. State schools could get millions of dollars to beef up security.

The school shooting at Apalachee has put the need for school security improvements at the front of the agenda.

“A quality education requires a safe learning environment,” Kemp said on Monday at a Capitol news conference.

Governor Kemp said with a new $50 million dollar grant, each school will get more than $68,000 to enhance security.

Kemp also wants to increase funding for crisis counseling and school psychologist.
