ATLANTA, GA — Surrounded by business owners, doctors, and lawmakers, Governor Kemp unveiled his much-anticipated proposal to overhaul Georgia’s civil legal system at the capitol building on Thursday afternoon.
The legislative package, which the governor dubs comprehensive and reasonable, would limit certain lawsuits and jury awards and put guardrails on the money that plaintiffs can be awarded for medical bills.
Kemp says this is key to the future success of Georgia’s economy and will help businesses and lower insurance rates for everyone.
Opponents like Senate Democratic Leader Harold Jones blasts the proposal saying the plan looks out primarily for insurance companies.
