GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Gwinnett County will fire its school superintendent.
The Gwinnett County Board of Education held a special executive session this morning to terminate Dr. Calvin Watts’ contract.
With a 3-2 vote, they cited several reasons including a 35% increase in fights, the murder of a Norcross high school student near campus, and a controversial discipline policy.
His contract was set to expire in July of next year, but his contract will now expire in April.
He’ll be replaced by Dr. Al Taylor, the current chief of schools in Gwinnett County.
