Gwinnett PD searching for two men for stealing cigarettes

Cigarette Thieves in Gwinnett (Gwinnett PD)

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Gwinnett County Police hope the public can help them identify two men they say are responsible for rash of gas station thefts around north Georgia.

Surveillance video of one heist at the RaceTrac on Buford Highway shows the pair inside the store when one walks to the back where the employee area is. He then cuts the lock on the cigarette cage and takes a number of cigarette cartons before escaping with his partner in a black Dodge Durango.

Gwinnett County Police Corporal Ryan Winderweedle tells WSB they’ve pulled similar heists. “Detectives believe that the same suspects are involved in similar thefts in Athens, Ellenwood and Snellville.”

Winderweedle says the thieves likely sell the cigarettes for much less than their retail price.

If you have any information about the suspects, call the Gwinnett County Police Department at (770) 513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
