Friday promised to be one of the busiest days of the year for the Atlanta airport.
Officials have been gearing up for the volume of travel for months.
Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson say Friday will be the busiest travel day of the year-end holidays. Many are heading home from Christmas while others are starting their New Year’s vacation.
That will add up to more than 327,000 passengers passing through the airport on Friday alone.
The airport’s Herschel Grangent, Jr. says it is also important to stay informed. A series of lingering weather events could impact flights out of Atlanta, like rain and snow out west. Airports in Texas are also still trying to catch up from delays brought on by severe storms on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, many are hitting the roads as well. AAA’s Montrae Waiters warns drivers should move over for emergency vehicles.
She said 119 million people are traveling 50 miles or more from home through the end of the year.
