Ian could have a big say in how the Braves and Mets series plays-out this coming weekend. To that end, Major League Baseball is now considering possible contingency plans for the showdown matchup at Truist Park.
Heading into Wednesday night’s action, the two teams are tied atop the NL East with a week to go in the regular season.
With forecasts including everything from significant rain to gusty winds at certain times from Friday into Sunday, MLB.com reports baseball is considering altering game-times and/or playing a doubleheader on one of the days. One other option - probably less popular for the players - would be to move one or more of the games to the day after the regular season - into October 6.
Sources say as of Wednesday afternoon, there were no plans to move games to a neutral site. Opening the series one day early, Thursday, Sept 29, is also reportedly not an option - even though the Braves and Mets both have a mutual off-day.
