Inmates who escaped from Tenn. prison are back in police custody

Pair of inmates escape from Tenn. prison near Ga. border Both women were serving sentences for theft and were set to be released in 2023.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — UPDATE: According to reports from WTVC, the Tennessee Department of Corrections says the two inmates that escaped the Chattanooga Release Center were found in South Nashville and they are back in police custody.

Two inmates being held in a Tennessee prison near the Georgia border have escaped.

According to the Tennessee Department of Corrections, 26-year-old Katelyn Standifer and 36-year-old Ashley Wardlaw were finishing up sentences at the Chattanooga Release Center when they escaped on Friday.

Authorities said the two women “walked away” from the facility, but did not offer further details about their escape.

Standifer was serving a three-year sentence for theft in Knox County, Tenn. and Wardlaw was serving a four-year sentence for theft out of Davidson County, Tenn.

Both women were scheduled to be released in 2023.

Standifer is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and approximately 190 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray pants, a black t-shirt and black shoes.

Wardlaw is 5 feet, seven inches tall and approximately 175 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray pants, a dark shirt with “Reebok” written on the front and white shoes.
