Atlanta, Ga. — Record label owner, Atlanta native and Grammy-winning entertainer Jermaine Dupri has been quite busy recently. He’s the curator and executive producer of all the musical acts performing at Super Bowl Live inside of Centennial Olympic Park. During a press conference on Saturday, Dupri says he’s excited to have the Super Bowl in Atlanta and to be working to bring music to Atlantans that want to be a part of the big game. As for why he got involved he said, “this is about our city, and it’s important for us to turn on for our city.”
Jermaine Dupri curated all of the acts performing. They’re all from Georgia and they cover the spectrum. “That was the hard part,” he said “to make sure that it was like that and not to make it where it wasn’t just like one age or one type of music. It had to be stretched.”
“That was the thing. Just trying to make sure we made it well-rounded. And I think we did a pretty good job.” Dupri said.
With all of the acts performing over the multiple days of this festival, WSB Radio asked Dupri who he was most excited about seeing. “The SOS Band. It took me the longest to close the SOS Band, for whatever reasons, but that’s the one that I wanted.” Dupri said part of that was because he grew up hearing their music. “When I was little, my dad used to work for the SOS Band, so I used to go to their rehearsals as a kid. For me, it comes full circle if I get an opportunity to give them a chance to perform at ‘Live,’ so I’m excited to see them perform.”
