Johns Creek wants more police officers on patrol.

Johns Creek Police Chief Ed Densmore proposes hiring four more officers for patrol.  He says the growing city's stretching the resources of the current department.

The Johns Creek Herald reports the chief's disbanded the special investigations unit and reassigned those officers to patrol duty.  Prioritizing calls means some residents may have to wait for police to respond to petty crimes, like vandalism.

Expanding the force would cost the city an estimated 360 thousand dollars the first year, but that includes one-time costs of additional vehicles and equipment.  The city council is set to vote at its next meeting, December 1.
