Sen. Kelly Loeffler officially conceded the U.S. Senate runoff election to Senator-elect Raphael Warnock, ending her 2020 campaign Thursday evening.

Loeffler posted a video announcement to her social accounts saying she called to congratulate Warnock and thanked Georgians for their support.

“While my heart breaks at not being able to continue to serve Georgia and America, I’m tremendously proud of all we achieved together,” Loeffler said in a video.

“Unfortunately we came up slightly short in the runoff election. Earlier today I called Rev. Warnock to congratulate him and to wish him well in serving this great state.”

Loeffler was appointed to her seat by Gov. Brian Kemp when it was vacated by former Sen. Johnny Isakson last year, who resigned because of health reasons.

Because she was appointed, Loeffler will remain in her seat until Warnock is sworn in. He will now serve out the rest of Isakson’s term until 2023.

ABC News and the Associated Press called the race for Warnock late Tuesday night. According to the latest numbers from the Secretary of State’s Office, Warnock is still ahead of Loeffler by over 80,000 votes as of Thursday night.

On Wednesday afternoon, ABC News and the Associated Press called the other Senate runoff for Jon Ossoff over the incumbent David Perdue.

Ossoff leads Perdue, who has not yet conceded the race, by over 43,000 votes.
