SMYRNA, GA — Officers are searching for a suspect who held up a check cashing business near the busy intersection of Cobb Parkway and Spring Road in Smyrna.

Smyrna police Lt. Meredith Holt tells WSB it happened near Cumberland Boulevard, not far from The Battery and Truist Park.

Police engaged the suspect and shot at him but he ran away.

The Cobb County Police Department says its SWAT team was training nearby when they responded to help Smyrna police.

No injuries have been reported.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area.
