ATLANTA — Legendary film director Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee’s mother and grandmother are being recognized with a huge honor.
Spelman College is dedicating its admissions office to Lee’s mother, Jacquelyn Shelton Lee, and grandmother, Zimmie Reatha Shelton.
Both women graduated from Spelman College in the classes of 1929 and 1954 and resided in Packard Hall. During that time Packard Hall was a residence hall.
Lee graduated from Morehouse College in 1979.
The ‘Do the Right Thing’ film director has a long history of supporting and uplifting HBCUs through his work as an award-winning director and film icon.
The dedication will take place Monday, Nov. 28 beginning at 1 p.m. in Packard Hall.
