Man accused of stabbing off-duty officer in Atlanta road rage incident now in custody

Walmart shooting DeKalb County A dispute between an ex-couple and the new boyfriend led to gunfire in a Walmart parking lot, according to DeKalb County police.

ATLANTA, GA — A 36-year-old man accused of stabbing an off-duty Atlanta police officer with a box cutter during a road rage incident earlier this month is now in custody.

Officer Tony Black followed a driver after his vehicle was struck on I-20 in DeKalb County earlier this month.

36-year-old Justin Perry Hurst is accused of stabbing Officer Tony Black several times in the face with a box cutter. 

Hurst turned himself into the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office and now faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and property damage.  Hurst is accused of running his Dodge Charger into Black’s vehicle on I-20 in DeKalb County before driving away.  Black followed Hurst and the two got into a confrontation in a parking lot near Conyers. 

Officer Black is out of the hospital and recovering. Hurst is being held without bond.
