(COBB COUNTY, Ga.) — Firefighters are working to put out a fire at an apartment building just outside of Marietta.
NewsChopper 2 was over the scene just before noon Monday, where smoke was billowing from at least one building at the Hamptons at East Cobb, a gated community, on Roswell Road.
The plume of smoke was visible for miles.
Resident Sonia David told WSBT-TV’s Bryan Mims that she heard what she called an explosion from a second floor apartment. The person living in the unit is reported to be okay, but details on what could have triggered the explosion remain elusive.
Nobody was hurt, and firefighters were able to rescue three pets. A total of 29 units were damaged by fire, smoke, or water from firefighters or burst pipes. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
