MARIETTA, GA — The city of Marietta won a prestigious award in 2024 from the Center for Digital Government for its use of technology. Now, the police department has added a new app that will allow citizens to receive alerts and to send anonymous tips to police.
Imagine that you’re driving north on US 41 through Marietta and you witness a collision. You don’t want to pull over and wait for police, but you do want to let them know you have dash cam footage to show which driver was at fault. Now you can share that sort of information anonymously on a new app, and to Marietta Police Spokesman Chuck McPhilamy, it’s a perfect pairing for our phone-centric society
He says police can respond to any messages and the tipster can decide if they want to respond.
He says you can use the app even if you simply drive through Marietta during the week.
More than a thousand people have already downloaded the app since its New Year’s Day launch.
