MARTA is implementing its inclement weather policy as winter weather hits in Atlanta.

MARTA stated that initially they would run on modified schedule based on road conditions, now the conditions have deteriorated to the point of temporary suspension of bus service.

MARTA states that bus service will resume as conditions improve.

That service plan, according to a media release, began Friday morning.

“With the temperature expected to remain below freezing with the likelihood of precipitation, MARTA will continue service to the extent feasible, while also ensuring the safety of customers and MARTA employees,” the release stated..

Rail service will operate on a 20-minute schedule during regular service hours.

Streetcar service will be suspended until it is deemed safe to operate based on specific track and road icing conditions.

MARTA stated it will work closely with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and other state and local Departments of Public Works that are responsible for roadway safety and mobility in controlling snow and ice removal and performing street clearance activities.

MARTA call centers will be open for regular operations. The Reduced Fare and Lost and Found offices will be closed.
