Metro Atlanta historic cabin safe for now after developer pulls plans to build subdivision

A cabin in East Cobb survives for now after a developer pulls plans to build a subdivision.

The historic Power-Jackson cabin sits on 13 acres along Post Oak Tritt Road.

Executive Director of Cobb Landmarks Historical Society, Trevor Beemon, says it is the last example of a single pin, one room house left in Cobb County.

It may be the county’s oldest structure if the developers sustain their decision to withdraw.

The pause on the plans may be due to questions that were raised about a possible cemetery on the site as well as the cabin.

However, Beemon says this likely isn’t the end of the battle.

Until another application crops up, the society will continue to preserve the cabin even if it has to be moved.
