Parents will again notice a heavy police presence as they drop their students off at Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County today after a second round of threatening emails was sent to teachers and staff Wednesday afternoon.

The first round of emails was sent on Tuesday prompting more than a dozen officers with Gwinnett County Police and Gwinnett County School Police to monitor Wednesday’s morning drop-off. Half as many were on hand as school dismissed.

“It was threats that did indicate that someone might shoot or do a violent act toward a school,” says school district spokesperson Sloan Roach.

She tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish the second round of emails contained similar threats.

All the emails have come from the same email address which is believed to be from outside the country.

So far the school's principal Bo Ford has sent three emails to parents, the latest on Wednesday evening regarding the most recent threats:

“As a result of this development, we will continue to take precautionary measures through the end of the week, including the presence of additional police on campus. Please know that we are taking these threats seriously, and although we have nothing to substantiate them, we are operating with an abundance of caution.”
