NEWNAN, GA — A repeat felon is going to jail for 14 years after being arrested for unlawfully possessing a firearm while resisting police officers in a small west Georgia city.

34-year-old Arthur Gene Young of Bremen, Georgia, has a long history of violence and trouble with the law.

This arrest makes it his third time in two years.

“Armed felons cannot be allowed to terrorize the citizens of our district,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr.

ATF Special Agent in Charge Benjamin Gibbons says, “this sentence sends a direct message that ATF and local law enforcement will investigate violent criminals and protect citizens”.

Young’s release from prison will be followed by three years of supervised release.
