NEWTON COUNTY, GA — The Newton County Sheriff’s Office reports the K9 officer Petra has been found and is now safe and sound.

The black and brown bloodhound went missing from her handler’s home on Berkshire Run in Covington Thursday afternoon.

Authorities deduce that she somehow escaped from her kennel and spent the night on the run before she was found.

There is no word on where the bloodhound was found.
