NASHVILLE, Tn. — The Vanderbilt Commodores entered their homestand completely outmatched against Georgia with the Bulldogs winning 62-0 and advancing to 2-0 in SEC play. UGA quarterback JT Daniels led the way for Georgia with an explosive first half, completing 9 of 10 passes for two touchdowns. Backup QB Stetson Bennett was also a factor in the game for the Bulldogs, throwing for one touchdown and completed 11 out of 15 passes in the game for 121 yards.

In the first quarter, Georgia’s defense picked up where they left off last week, causing pressure early and forcing a quick three-and-out drive on Vandy’s offense. The Bulldogs powered down the field on four plays to set up Brock Bowers’ 12-yard TD run to get Georgia on the board. Next possession, another three-and-out situation was forced on the Commodore’s offense and gave Georgia back the ball on their own 37-yard line. An additional five plays from UGA allowed Daniels and Bowers to connect on a 25-yard TD to put the Bulldogs up two scores early. Georgia’s defense continued to swarm Vandy’s offense, forcing a fumble and recovering the ball on the Commodores’ 4-yard line. UGA’s running back Zamir White scored on a 3-yard run and the successful kick from Jack Podlesny gave Georgia a 21-0 lead. Vandy’s next offensive play resulted in a pass deflection from Lewis Cine and the ball fell in the hands of Christopher Smith for the pick and the return to the Commodore’s 21-yard line. A 12-yard pass completion from Daniels to Ladd McConkey led to another Georgia touchdown, putting the Bulldogs up four touchdown scores alone in the first quarter. The Commodores’ offense seen another three-and-out situation and punted the ball to Georgia’s 29-yard line. A few pass completions from Daniels and a few successful run plays allowed McConkey to score on his 24-yard carry to continue piling onto the Bulldog’s commanding lead early in the contest.

In the second quarter, the game was kept stagnant at 35-0 as the Commodores began to find some rhythm against Georgia. Vandy’s defense earned an interception on Stetson Bennett at the 3:16-mark of the second quarter. Three-and-out situations from both teams led to Georgia taking over at the Vanderbilt 33-yard line to begin the drive. A combination of successful downs for the Bulldogs drove them down to Vandy’s 13-yard line. The Commodores forced a fourth down situation on the Bulldogs, leading to a successful field goal from Podelsny and giving UGA a demanding 38-0 at halftime.

After halftime, the Bulldogs picked up where they left off in their dominance against the Commodores. Georgia’s offense began on their own 28-yard line to begin the third quarter. A few power plays from White allowed Georgia to march down the field and score on a 29-yard TD reception from Bennett to Bowers. Vandy’s next offensive possession led to a three-and-out situation, which led to Georgia’s offense to drive down and score on a 4-yard run from Kenny McIntosh to put the game completely out of reach for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Georgia’s running back White led the team in rushing against Vandy with 48 yards on nine carries and a touchdown score. Sophomore running back Daijun Edwards was the second leading rusher, recording 10 carries for 46 yards. White, Edwards, McIntosh, McConkey and Bowers each had a rushing TD against Vanderbilt. Bowers also was the leader in receptions versus the Commodores, earning 69 yards on four receptions. McConkey finished the game as the second leader in receiving for Georgia with 62 yards and four catches. Both Bowers and McConkey caught all the passes thrown their way. On defense, edge rusher Nolan Smith was the leading tackler with three total and two solos. Nakobe Dean, Jalen Carter and Smith each tallied tackles for losses against Vandy.

Georgia’s offense exploded for yards in today’s contest, ending with 524 yards total to Vandy’s 77. UGA also found some success through the air in the game, racking up 283 passing yards to the Commodores’ 24. The Bulldogs also ended the game with 241 rushing yards total to Vanderbilt’s 53.

Next week, the Bulldogs will continue their conference play against the Arkansas Razorbacks back in Athens at Noon EST. The game will be broadcasted by ESPN with additional coverage on the SEC Network.
