CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County Water Authority issued a boil-water advisory for parts of Clayton County around 8 p.m. Tuesday. They say a contractor working in the area damaged a water main.
The areas affected are the Lovejoy/Hampton area, east of Tara Boulevard from McDonough Road to Talmadge Road and west of Tara Boulevard on Talmadge Road and Fuller Street.
Residents in these areas are asked to boil their drinking water prior to consumption.
Residents are asked to do this as a precaution because of a complete loss of pressure in the pipe. The advisory will be in effect until late Thursday.

It is advised that water that has been boiled and cooled or bottled water should be used for things like drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food and baby formula, making ice and hydrating pets.
Customers should:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Keep heating the water for one more minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour water into a clean, sanitized container with a cover for storage.
CCWA crews are working to repair the water main. The lines will be flushed and the pipe disinfected once the repairs are complete. Once water samples are tested and it’s deemed safe, the advisory will be lifted. This process may take up to 24 hours.
