Police search for suspect in shooting of pizza manager

Gwinnett County Police are searching for a suspect who shot the general manager of a local pizzeria in an apparent robbery attempt.

Quin Harned was shot in the chest after locking up at Marco’s Pizza on Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn just after 10pm Monday.

“He fired one single shot and fled the scene, we believe without taking any property or cash,” says Cpl. Deon Washington.

A Gwinnett Police officer, who responded to the scene, rendered aid until paramedics could arrive.

Harned was able to tell the officer the suspect was a black male, wearing all black, and possibly a former employee

The shooting has left current employees stunned.

Carissa Thomas showed up for work Tuesday morning and was surprised to see Harned’s truck still the parking lot. It was not until she began getting phone calls to the restaurant that she learned what happened.

“Apparently, he sent everybody home last night because he didn’t want everybody to have to stay and close because we weren’t that busy,” she tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

Thomas says Harned has worked at the restaurant for several years and has been the general manager the past two years. She cannot understand why anyone would harm him.

“Out of everybody that they would target, he would be last on my list of people,” she says.

Detectives are checking to see if surveillance video captured the suspect.
