The doors remain open at the Carter Center in Atlanta as mourners continue to pay their respects to the nation’s 39th President.
Thousands have reportedly been filing past Carter’s coffin. An honor guard patrols the center where he lies in repose for another 24 hours.
While many of those honoring the former president are from his home state, some have traveled from afar.
A special ceremony will be held on Tuesday morning at the Carter Center before the former President’s body is to be taken to Washington, D.C. where he will lie in state ahead of Thursday’s funeral and a National Day of Mourning under extra tight security.
MARTA will provide bus shuttle service from King Memorial rail station to The Carter Center. Those wishing to pay their respects MUST take the train to King Memorial Station on the Blue/Green Line and ride the shuttles to The Carter Center unless they plan to walk or bike. Rail service will operate continuously for 60 hours, according to a press release issued by MARTA.

Free bus shuttles will depart from King Memorial Station every three to five minutes around-the-clock until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
No bags or umbrellas are allowed at the Carter Center.

There is no public parking available at King Memorial. MARTA has 24,345 parking spaces systemwide, with almost 10,000 of those regularly available. PARKING MAP AND AVAILABILITY There is additional parking available in the AT&T parking decks at North Springs, Doraville, and College Park rail stations, and in the surface parking lot at Indian Creek Station.
