Retired Athens band to perform for President Biden and Australian Prime Minister

Quite a gig for the B-52′s.

The now retired Athens band will perform for President Biden and Australian Prime Minster Anthony Albanese at a state dinner in Washington this week.

Cindy Wilson, Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson, original members of the band, are scheduled to appear Wednesday.

The B-52′s retired from touring earlier this year with a concert in Athens, but said they would continue to do events like this.

Some of the bands most notable songs include chart-topping hits like “Love Shack,” “Roam,” and “Deadbeat Club.”

The band was established in Athens, Ga in 1976.
