ATLANTA — Consumer investigative reporter Jim Strickland, known for exposing countless rip-offs and scams died Monday evening.

Strickland’s family shared with WSBTV that he passed away Monday evening, with his wife Marie by his side.

Strickland retired from Channel 2 Action News in 2019 after 38 years in the business. He worked at WSBTV for 20 years.

He helped launch WSB-TV’s consumer investigative franchise in 1999.

During his trailblazing career, Strickland’s investigations over the years shut down unscrupulous medical clinics, led to federal raids of illegally run businesses and facilitated sweeping regulation of the city of Atlanta’s car booting industry.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
