Riverdale police told Channel 2 Action News that a driver ran a red light on Highway 85 and crashed into the MARTA bus. The driver of the car, the bus driver and a passenger were taken to a nearby hospital and were treated for their injuries.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Kristen Holloway spoke with Marcus Brown who takes MARTA bus 196 to work every day. Brown says he heard a loud “boom” before he left his house and when he came outside, he couldn’t believe he saw the bus wedged into a pole.
“When I woke this morning, I heard a loud noise it sound like a transformer had blew up,” said Brown. “It shocked me. The first thing I think is I hope everybody is okay.”

Brown said he wasn’t surprised about the crash because he’s seen cars run the red light at the intersection many times.
“They come by fast all the time, tryna beat the light I guess,” Brown said.
Brown also said the crash kept him from getting to work on time.
“I sent these pics to my boss to let him know what was going on and the reason that I’m late this morning,” said Brown.
