NEWTON COUNTY, GA — A small plane carrying two people onboard makes an emergency landing in a field in Newton County on Wednesday morning.

Caitlin Jett with the Newton County sheriff’s department says around 9:11 a.m., the pilot of a Cessna 150 safely landed the aircraft in a field near MacDonald Road and Bates Road.

Jett says there are no injuries and no damage to the plane.

The FAA will be conducting an investigation. In a statement, the agency says the pilot reported an engine issue with the Cessna 150 while in flight. The plane did not takeoff from nearby Covington Municipal Airport.

Records show the aircraft is registered to a business in Fayetteville.
