SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — The City of Griffin Police Department announced Friday that more than 560 arrests had been made as part of “Operation Revolving Door.” The operation targeted violent crimes, gang members and drug dealers in Griffin for more than a year. Including in the arrests were some Mexican Cartel operatives.

The city’s Criminal Apprehension and Gang Enforcement Unit led the effort with support from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Griffin police announced they had filed more than 220 gang-related charges and seized $45,000 cash, 16 vehicles and 83 guns as part of the operation, which lasted 14 months. They also took 45 pounds of marijuana and 17 pounds of methamphetamine along with cocaine, pills and heroin.

In the news release announcing the operation, Griffin police said:
