Speeding biker caught by Duluth police

DULUTH — A motorcycle menace is off the streets as police have arrested a man who has evaded officers and endangered other drivers for weeks in Duluth.

On more than one occasion, police say they have attempted to apprehend the biker identified as Alexander De La Cruz, 22, only to call off high-speed pursuits out of the interest of public safety.

Police say they hope to send a zero-tolerance message with De La Cruz’s arrest.

Corporal Ted Sadowski said police set up surveillance of his home and followed him. While he was waiting at a stoplight on Buford Highway, they moved in.

Sadowski added that De La Cruz would routinely drive in excess of 100 miles per hour on surface streets, putting himself and everyone around him at risk.

De La Cruz is already on probation and did not have a valid license. He has been jailed on numerous charges.
