State ethics commission to consider settlement with Abrams’ group

The Georgia State Ethics Commission will consider a settlement on Wednesday with a group founded by former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

The investigation into the New Georgia Project started several years ago and hinges on the allegation that the group raised millions for Abrams’ 2018 gubernatorial bid with disclosing it.

Two years ago, the commission found that the group hired people and distributed flyers supporting Abrams.

They say the group should have registered as an independent political committee.

The details of the agreement between the commission and the group will be released later Wednesday.
