Local voters across the metro Atlanta area had to decide more than their preference for presidential candidates. They also had to choose if they wanted to pay a sewer sales tax and Sunday liquor sales.
In all cases, the answer was an overwhelming yes.
Sunday alcohol sales passed by wide margins in every municipality where it was on the ballot. It won by double digits in Cobb, DeKalb, Rockdale, Forsyth and Gwinnett Counties.
It passed by wide margins in the cities of Marietta, Cumming, Austell, Lovejoy, Conyers and Buford.
The other local issue that garnered widespread attention was in Atlanta, where voters had to decide whether to extend a one cent tax aimed at sewer repairs. It also passed, by almost a 7-to-1 margin.
Voters in Marietta also approved a $7 million bond to pay for a performing arts auditorium for Marietta High School.
