ATHENS, GA — A suspended UGA football player waived his arraignment and entered a not guilty plea in an Athens courtroom on Tuesday afternoon after his arrest in October.

Wide receiver Colbie Young is charged with a misdemeanor of assault and battery of an unborn child. Young’s attorney has filed a motion to have the charges dropped.

Young’s pregnant ex-girlfriend has since recanted details of her initial claim and has asked that the charges be dropped.

Coach Kirby Smart suspended Young following the arrest.

Young has not appeared for the Georgia Bulldogs since the incident, but he has resumed workouts at team facilities.
