COBB COUNTY, GA — On Thursday morning, officials from Kennesaw State University in Marietta confirmed that the teacher killed in the shooting at the private Christian school in Madison, WI was a KSU graduate.

The shooting happened Monday at Abundant Life Christian in Madison. Police say Natalie Rupnow, a 15-year-old student, brought a 9mm handgun to the school and shot four people in a study hall before she shot and killed herself.

42-year-old KSU Alumni Erin West was one of two people killed. The other person killed in the shooting was 14-year-old student Rubi Patricia Vergara. Two students still remain in critical condition.

West graduated from the university in 2005 with a degree in early childhood education.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Erin West, a KSU alumna whose life was taken far too soon in an act of senseless violence. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who are mourning this unimaginable tragedy,” a spokesperson for Kennesaw State University said.
