ATLANTA, GA — It’s the end of an era in Chamblee as the Regal Hollywood 24 has shown its last movie.
It was once the top movie theater in the metro area, and was around for a quarter-century, but now the 37-acre plot off I-85 is up for lease.
It stands on the sprawling former site of the North 85 Drive-In.
The closing is part of a recent downward trend among movie theater attendance.
Regal is the second largest movie chain in the country, but it has closed three other cinemas in metro Atlanta since 2020.
Theatres were hit hard by the pandemic and have had trouble recovering.
