ATLANTA, GA — ATLANTA — A busy stretch of Peachtree Road near Piedmont Hospital has partially reopened on Friday morning after a massive water main break was repaired.
As crews continue work to repair the roadway, one lane of Peachtree Road has reopened in each direction allowing some traffic to move through.
The break happened in front of an Enterprise Rental Car Center on Peachtree Road on Thursday.
Water could be seen shooting up 20 to 30 feet into the air like a geyser.
WSB Radio’s Triple Team Traffic advised the public to avoid the closure on Peachtree Road in Buckhead near the water main break and drivers can use Northside Drive or Piedmont Road.
WSB Radio’s Steve Summers was at the scene reporting that traffic was moving slowly at the instruction of police on Peachtree Road from north to south, but the south to north lane was closed.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens told Summers at the scene that they were going to shut off the water to a lot of people living in the high-rise condos and apartments right around this water main break.
