A stranded woman on the side of an icy road near Rockbridge in DeKalb County called 911 to say she was in labor.
DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson said an ambulance crew managed to get to the woman and deliver her baby, but then they got stuck due to the icy road conditions.
“Literally we had to dig them out. We had to have an emergency crew go there with sand and salt to get that ambulance out, to get that mother and baby that was delivered on-site to the hospital,” she said.
Cochran-Johnson says DeKalb County is still salting and sanding roads, but urges people not to travel unless it is an emergency.
