Irrfan Khan, a Bollywood star known for roles in “Life of Pi” and “Slumdog Millionaire," has died.
Khan’s PR agency confirmed his death.
He had been diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumor, CNN reported. He made the announcement in March 2018 about his diagnosis.
Khan suffered a loss last week, prior to being taken to an intensive care unit in Mumbai because of a colon infection when his mother died. He was not able to attend her services because of the coronavirus lockdown in India.
In addition to his role in "Slumdog Millionaire," Khan also appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Jurassic World" and "Inferno."
He almost gave up acting after more than a year in India's TV soap operas that the BBC said he found unrewarding.
Khan leaves behind a wife and two children, The Associated Press reported. He was 53, CNN reported.
