Tuesday, Aug. 20th, marked National Radio Day and in an unlikely coincidence, 95.5 WSB made a big change—officially moving its 100,000-watt FM signal from Flowery Branch to East Atlanta.

The 45-mile move will give the 95.5 signal a major upgrade in places like Carrollton, Douglasville, Griffin and Peachtree City. The signal, located on the same tower as WSB’s powerful sister station B98.5, should ultimately cover almost all 20 metro counties.

A nervous Eric Von Haessler, host of The Von Haessler Doctrine, recently (and briefly) overcame his fear of heights to tour the new tower.

“Do we still say, ‘depend on it’?” Eric asks a bit nervously in a video taken atop the tower. “Eh, well—depend on it.”

Eric and the Doctrinaires are excited to also be live on the air as the official move is made. Be sure and listen Tuesday and every weekday from 9 a.m. to noon.

And while the AM signal is not changing or going away, WSB Radio program director Pete Spriggs says he had to consider a changing radio landscape. "The AM signal is still extremely important and is considered the most historic radio signal in the Southeast," Spriggs told The AJC in a recent interview, adding, "But for marketing purposes, if I want a new listener to tune into my station, it's going to be a lot easier to find us on the FM dial."
