Norcross to reveal massive football video board

Top 5 stories of the day Norcross to reveal massive football video board: The largest video display board at a high school stadium will now light up Norcross High School.

Norcross High School is set for the big reveal of its brand-new video display board at its football stadium.  It will be during a pep rally, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

It is notable because the school says this is the largest video display board of any high school in the country.

Kirk Barton, athletic director for the school, tells WSB Radio the board is 51 feet by 29 feet.  It features a lot of room for real-live game feeds, interaction for the fans, all to enhance the game day experience.  And Barton says it is even bigger than the board at the University of Alabama.

Barton would not reveal the cost, only to say it was "a significant amount."

As for how it was paid for, "(Football) Coach (Keith) Maloof and some of his parents rallied some business in the community who gave private funds, so no school funds were used on it as well as no booster club funds were used on it."

Barton says it was time for an upgrade from the old board, which had been in place for 15 years.

"Nobody has a 15-year-old computer,” Barton says.
