Sandy Springs lures international company

The city of Sandy Springs is getting hundreds of new jobs and a new hi-tech lab.  WSB's Jon Lewis reports it's all due to a new business incentive plan.

The incentive program was approved just nine weeks ago--and promptly landed Graphic Packaging Corporation.  With it, the company is transferring nearly 300 jobs to the city from its global headquarters in Marietta.  In addition, "They will be building a 23,000-square-foot facility in which they will be doing some sort of labratorial research work," says Mayor Eva Galambos.

The company's senior vice president for human resources, Cindy Baerman, tells WSB they currently have about 20 open positions for which they are recruiting.  Information about those can be found on their website, graphicpkg.com.

The city is giving tax and fee breaks in exchange for requiring companies to bring in jobs and make capital investments in the community.

Graphic Packaging's name describes its product.  The company designs brand-specific packaging from sustainable materials for companies to market themselves.
