Two men are behind bars in Clayton County, jailed in connection with Saturday night's deadly shooting at a package store in Morrow.

Sheldon Brown and Jamal Parker are charged in the murder of Moe's Beer and Tobacco clerk Deon Causey.

"I didn't do it," said murder suspect Sheldon Brown, who also admitted to Channel 2 Action News, that he was in the store.

Charges are pending against a third suspect, James Hightower. He is hospitalized in critical condition after Causey shot him several times while he defended the store on Mt. Zion Boulevard during the robbery, police said.

"(Causey) was well loved in the community," said liquor store customer Malcom Cruz.

Clayton County Police Captain Richard Gandee believes the trio tried to hold up the business to get money to celebrate Parker's birthday.

"This was a birthday money-gathering spree for Mr. Parker," said Gandee.

Another clerk, who was also shot, is expected to survive.

"This is a fine example of law enforcement working hand-in-hand with the Clayton County community," Clayton County Police Chief Gregory Porter said.
