CHICAGO — A 3-year-old boy died Tuesday after falling from an 18th-story window in Chicago, authorities said.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Chaise Binion died of multiple blunt force injuries due to a fall from height, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The boy fell through a screened 18th-floor window in the north tower of the Lake View Towers complex at about 6:40 p.m. CDT, according to WBBM-TV. Binion landed on the third-floor roof of a parking garage, WMAQ-TV reported. The garage stands between the twin towers of the complex, police said.

Binion was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, the Tribune reported.
Building residents told WLS-TV that the windows in the apartments open to the inside like a V. While there are screens, it is possible for a small child to crawl into the space, according to the television station.
“The mother was on the floor, yeah, when they took him with the stretcher,” Etenesh Gebeyehu, whose daughter lives in the building, told WLS. “She was on the floor crying, you know. Crying, her forehead on the floor.”
An investigation by Chicago police is ongoing. The property manager for the building told the television that she was unable to comment on the incident at this time.
