After more than five decades of service to the country, President Joe Biden is preparing to say goodbye.

Biden will address the nation Wednesday night during prime time.

What he will say has not been disclosed, The New York Times reported.

Before his speech, Biden wrote a letter about the legacy of his presidency, highlighting job creation, increased wages and lowered inflation.

He also wrote about the strength of the country:

“America is an idea stronger than any army and larger than any ocean. It’s the most powerful idea in the history of the world. That idea is that we are all created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We’ve never fully lived up to this sacred idea, but we’ve never walked away from it either. And I do not believe the American people will walk away from it now.”

He finished his letter, challenging Americans in the future:

“History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands. We just have to keep the faith and remember who we are. We are the United States of America, and there is simply nothing beyond our capacity when we do it together.”

After the letter, the staff compiled a list of accomplishments Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris had done over the past four years, the recovery from “the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression,” ending the COVID-19 pandemic, investment in infrastructure and lowering the costs of medications for Medicare patients including $35 for insulin and free vaccinations and an out-of-pocket limit of $2,000 annually.

Biden also held a news conference, speaking about the Gaza ceasefire deal that he said he introduced in May. Nearly eight months later and days before he leaves office, he said that Americans being held hostage by Hamas will be part of the first phase of the pause in fighting.
